My Philosophy
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela
On my quest to educate and inspire young minds, it is my goal to achieve this through: creating an environment which fosters productive learning and promote critical thinking skills with incorporation of technology. I aim to create an environment that utilizes the use of technology in which students are comfortable, free express themselves and be able apply different technological devices to enhance their learning.
As an educator it is important to continue studying in order to be current and also apply the most suitable approaches/ strategies to relate material to your students. The world is constantly being influenced by technology and I believe it is crucial to use that technology to improve educational strategies. Today’s generation is absorbed in the rapidly changing world of technology. It is something they are constantly using at every moment therefore it is safe to say that it is a significant part of their lives. Based on the technological advancement of the world it is imperative to incorporate technology in the classroom in order to demonstrate to students that the same devices and instruments that they use for pleasure can also be used to assist in the teaching/ learning process. Students can be taught using a variety technological tools/devices for example, creative computer programs, PowerPoint, movies, discussion boards, social networking sites, podcasts etc.
Technology has taken over every aspect of day to day activities and has even taken the place of paper. It has changed our means of communication and even transportation. Students should be taught of the importance of technology not only in the classroom but outside as well. Letters are now being sent via the internet rather than the post office and documents such as resume, application letters, etc are now being generated on computers. It is therefore my intention to give my students a well rounded 21st century education.
As a future educator I will be a facilitator, motivator and perform all the functions befitting a teacher. I will integrate the use of technology in my classroom and ensure that my students are well rounded and prepared for the technological advancements of the 21st century.
